Working together at another firm gave us a strong vision for what a design firm can and should be, leading us to start our own firm in 2015. We built Cinder Design Co. with the belief that client collaboration and ongoing communication are essential for a clear and concise connection with clients. All of this is key to more engaging concepts and successful outcomes.
UPSTATE, NY
We’re located in Upstate New York between the majestic Adirondacks and the picturesque Catskills — Schenectady, NY. Working and living in the place beyond the pines has influenced our love for the outdoors, and the work we do every day. When we aren’t in our offices, we’re either working with our hands through woodworking, jewelry making, or enjoying all the Adirondacks has to offer — camping, hiking, fishing, kayaking, and more.

The American Institute of Graphic Arts has recognized our brand identity work in their New York State of Design show publication. In addition, we have spoken at conferences and workshops across the country. Individually, we have received awards from the Capital Region Advertising Federation and have been published in Graphic Design USA.

This allows for clear communication and, in our experience, more creative and engaging solutions, leading to long-term relationships. In addition, when the project requires it, we collaborate with other creatives, such as in-house design teams, existing marketing teams, or project-specific teams.

We are a team of multidisciplinary designers working in a range of print and digital design services such as; visual identity systems, campaign marketing and design, information design, creative direction, illustration, lettering, motion graphics, and more.

Christina Sharp
Christina attended Pratt at Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute, SUNY New Paltz, and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a focus in Graphic Design. She’s received various awards including an American Graphic Design award, a Silver American Advertising Award, and was featured in GDUSA in 2013. She is also an Adjunct Design Instructor at Russell Sage College of Albany. Christina has worked for various design firms, including a position in-house for the US Air Force. She’s worked for organizations across the US such as the New York State Insurance Fund, YMCA of the USA, and various Institutions. She's led design workshops, talks, and presentations about the industry across the country. Her passion for design systems, lettering, and illustration, give her a unique perspective towards brand identity and marketing.
MICHAEL RIVETTE
Michael holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in Graphic Design from Sage College, acknowledged as a top design school by GDUSA and has received numerous American Advertising Awards for his work. Michael has done large and small work for clients across the US, including a large-scale redesign of the New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF) website. Working closely with the NYSIF team, he focused on creating a better, more accessible user experience for their users. He has also creatively directed numerous YMCA of the USA youth development campaigns. Michael approaches all problems in a practical way, always focusing on the customer, their messaging, their budget, and their user’s needs.
